Some useful links 27/09/2010

27th September 2010 by nickygetgood

Here’s some links I spotted recently, which you might find interesting:

Legal Resources for Hyperlocal Bloggers – a set of useful links from Philip John following a session on the subject at The London Neighbourhoods Online Unconference 2010.  The event also led Philip to suggest the interesting idea of Hyperlocal Cafes – ‘to pull together hyperlocal site owners within a region to talk to each other on a regular basis offline, in a café that’s convenient.’

Talk Talk Digital Heroes Awards – for ‘outstanding individuals, working within UK community groups or charities, who are using the power of digital technology to implement bright ideas which bring about positive social change.’ Know someone who fits this bill?  You’ve got until 30th September 2010 to submit a nomination.

Google Search Stories on YouTube – You can create your own ‘search story’ very easily by going to ‘Create your own’ and using the step by step video creator. Maybe you can create a search story about something going on in your your area, like the above one about the forthcoming Supersonic music festival in Digbeth, Birmingham.

Community Champions – another award, for ‘those people who’ve made a real difference in their communities, but whose stories might never normally be told.’ The closing date for nominations is 24th October 2010.
