Nesta’s latest call for funding bids offers hyperlocals the chance to get to grips with site analytics in order to better exploit their publication’s commercial potential.
The charity explains:
We are opening a grant funding call for hyperlocal publishers to explore how a more strategic use of website and social media analytics might help them define and measure their success online, to improve their service, audience engagement and reach, and in turn their sustainability and legacy within their local community.
This project takes the view that, among hyperlocal media publishers, audience and content analysis – including raising awareness and improving publishers’ skills in this area, which will encourage and empower them to improve their services – is crucial to their ability to run a sustainable service and for them to attract and keep audiences engaged. To do this, hyperlocal publishers need to think more about audience needs, motivations and behaviours and less about pushing content at audiences in a broadcast model. It is envisaged that Nesta will provide funding for up to 10 projects, up to £6,500 each.
If you’d like to apply, the application form can be downloaded from the right hand side of this page. The closing date is 5pm on Monday 10 August.
