Several UK hyperlocal sites inlcuding my own in Kings Cross have suddenly found themselves in the Google News part of search results. I noticed it in today’s google alert other established hyperlocals (Greener Leith, Bourneville Village, Hedon Blog, Connect Cannock) report inclusion even though they have never applied to be in Google news with it’s pernickety listing criteria.
This is welcome (I think) and should help with some google juice. There seems to be some sort of change of policy at Google – does anyone out there know what’s going on?

I’ve seen others mentioning that they’re only getting partial content seemingly getting indexed. I’m wondering if this is due to the separate sitemaps google use for their news service, but I’ve not had chance to test yet – I don’t know if anybody else has had a similar experience?
I don’t think W14london is in this but if anyone finds it please let me know. Annette W14london.ning.com
